What is the best school subject and why?

What do you think is the best school subject?
The most important part of answering this question is to explain why. Don't forget to use sentences with capital letters, full stops and conjunctions. The words 'because, so, and' may help explain why your sport or hobby is the best!

You can ask your class mates questions about their choice and even try and explain why yours is better!

A visitor to the year three blog!

Who is this new robot that has appeared on our blog?  Whats her name?  Where did she come from?
Click play under the robot and make sure that you have your speakers on to hear her message!

Just in case your speakers are broken the new robot is asking for year three to think of a name for her.  Can anyone make a suggestion for a name, and tell us why you think that name is a great idea.

When we have a few names suggested we will make a 'poll'.  You will see the poll right below the picture of our robot.  It will list some names and everyone will be able to vote on a name.  The name with the most votes will become our robots name.

You can also write some questions in the comment section of this post and come back and listen to some of the answers.  I'm sure our new robot will do her best in answering all your questions year three!

Spelling words

Think of this week’s spelling words. Pick one of your list words. On the blog write a list

of 5 clues about your word for the other students to guess.

For example…

I’m thinking of a word from this week’s list.

I have lots of hands.

I am round.

I am good at hanging about.

My hands travel in circles.

Sometimes I tick.

Fathers Day prayers.

Think about your dad and all the things he does for you. Write a prayer for dad. Thank God for the many things that dad does and says. You can write some of the fantastic things that your dad does for you if you like. Invite dad to see what you have written for him.

East Timor

At assembly last week Mr Guilfoyle talked about East Timor. He told us that the staff at Holy Family raise money to pay for two teachers in Becora .

Even the littlest thing can make a huge difference. Look at the pictures that are on the blog from East Timor. Think about how lucky we are at Holy Family.

In full sentences write the things that we should be thankful for and that we often take for granted. Also think about what you can do for people. Write the things that you or the class could do to help people in East Timor.

2009 Book Week !!!

In Reading Groups we have been working on writing book reviews. We thought that this would help foster the love for reading that Book Week aims to promote. If you share books at home with mums, dads, brothers or sisters feel free to create another book review with them!

Having these here will help you pick a book that you may enjoy!

Things to add into the book review...

What is the title of the book?
How is the author?
What type of book is it? (fact, fiction)
What happens in the book?
Why should someone read it?

Don't forget to show how exciting it was so everyone wants to try it!!

Blogging or worksheets for homework???

When you bring in your homework we will be able to find out what your parents think about blogging or worksheets. What we want to know is what the class likes.

Think about why you like one style of homework more then the other.

If you like blogging more then worksheets, you can let us know what kind of activities you would like to try online.

If you like worksheets more, you could tell us what kind of activities you would like to do.

The Super-Roo of Mungalongaloo by Osmar White

Think about The Super-Roo of Mungalongaloo and the characters Dr McGurk, Super Roo and Kathie Khan.

What was your favourite part of the story?
Why was it your favourite part?
If you met Super Roo or Dr McGurk what would you ask them and what do they think their answer will be?

Handball

What are some of the troubles that we face when we play at school?
What rules do you think are important to remember when we play?
Why do you think it is important to follow the school handball rules?
What is the most important thing to remember when you play handball with your friends?

These are just some of the questions to think about and comment on when writing a comment for this post. You may even add your own questions about handball on here for others to answer. Even if you disagree with someone else's post, there are ways to respond with respect.

Computers are awesome but...

We all love working with computers, but sometimes they can be confusing or difficult to use. So I decided to make a special place for computer related questions and statements. These may include things that frustrate you because they are confusing. You may want to learn how to do something on the computer or it may even be something that you really dislike about computers. If we can, we will try and help you out.

If you won 1 million Dollars....

You are sitting on your lounge at home watching television comfortably when your favourite show finishes. You groan loudly in disappointment as the news starts. You decide now would be a great idea to grab something to eat. As you go into the kitchen you hear the words 'In breaking news today someone has won 1 million dollars, this person is...' Bang! The kitchen door closes after you. You jump in fright as your mother starts screaming. You rush back to the lounge room. As you enter she looks at you and squeals "YOU JUST WON 1 MILLION DOLLARS!!!!!!" Your mouth drops open and you ask her "Me???" She just nods her head speechlessly. Pretend this is you...you just won 1 million dollars...how would you spend it? (Don't forget to use full sentences and write your response into your homework book first. Try and get a bigger person to check your spelling and punctuation first)

Grandparents Day

On Friday we celebrated Grandparents Day. We all would have had differnt feelings and experiences on the day. Some of us had grandparents there, others had other family members. Think about your day and who made it special. What made it fun? Write a sentence about something you will always remember about Grandparents Day in year 3.

Welcome to Term 3

This term we will start to develop our technology skills further. One of the ways we will do this is by having some homework activities using this blog. You may have to post an answer or use the Delicious site to find a website to work from. The Delicious site holds many of the websites we use in class or in previous homework activities. You and your family may like to use this to find fun learning places. If you have a special site you and your family likes using, you may give it to us to put onto the site.
Happy Blogging!
